"The Neighbour"- The Sun and the Moon

When Jeddy was drinking tea, a bare leg came through the ceiling, covered in drops of water. My.Colly noticed it was Merritt and told him to leave. Mrs.Colley poked the foot with a fork. Jeddy on the other hand watched the performance encouraging his mother. Merritt then pulled his leg up allowing all the water to fall drastically in their dining room. Jeddy took an umbrella and shoved it to the roof top to stop the water. Merritt had his face downward looking at them. Mr.Colley then shouted at the neighbour and everyone in the room bursted in laughter. Merritt then explained he was only taking a bath and due to the overflow the ceiling broke through. Mr. and Mrs. Colley then realized the issue and lead instructions to help him safely to reach the hallway outside of his apartment.

Merritt pushed him self across the floor like his body was on thin ice. Mona then stuffed the hole with newspapers. She was about the leave the dining room but her father stopped her. She then began to cry while finishing her breakfast. The Colly's left Merritt, the neighbour, a message that from now on he can just come down through the door, as a joke. The table was a wreck however they repaired it and finished their breakfast.

  2. My over all impression was that, this short story is a comedy. A Neighbour v.s Neighbour behaviour which i find funny. However at the end they supported the neighbour in their time of need and came to his aid. Also, i believe that social grace was displayed despite the Colley family had the imagery of an annoying neighbour.
